Grant Support for Businesses Transitioning to an Energy and Resource-Efficient Economy 2024

The Ministry of Economy has announced an extension of the call due to unallocated funds. The call aims to accelerate the green transition in the Croatian economy through the use of renewable energy sources, improved energy efficiency, and more effective resource utilisation.The scheme supports investment in new technologies and solutions that contribute to the circular economy, environmental preservation, and job creation.

Eligible Costs and Activities

Eligible costs include the construction of facilities and procurement of equipment, as well as the installation of photovoltaic power plants and other renewable energy sources. Eligible activities include the introduction of technologies aimed at optimising production and reducing CO₂ emissions, measures to improve energy efficiency and facilitate the transition to a circular economy, and external consultancy costs.

Projects must contribute to advancing the circular economy or to the decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries. Eligible items include innovative low-emission technologies, solutions for efficient raw material use, and measures that deliver measurable energy savings.

Who Can Apply?

  • Micro, small, medium, and large enterprises with up to 3,000 employees (mid-caps),

  • Selected energy-intensive manufacturing industries (including ETS installations), i.e. certain classifications within the manufacturing sector (Section C),

  • Enterprises with energy costs in the previous year of ≥2% of total revenue, a minimum of 10 employees, positive EBITDA, and a minimum equity and reserves ratio of 15%.

Financial Framework and Key Dates

The total allocation for this call is EUR 145,000,000. Small and medium-sized enterprises are eligible for grants ranging from EUR 70,000 to EUR 995,000,while large enterprises (up to 3,000 employees) may receive between EUR 265,400 and EUR 4,645,200.The aid intensity ranges from 45% to 75%, depending on company size, investment location, and type of aid. The call is open until 31 May 2025.
